Welcome!

Congress? You reading this? Yeah, I'm talking to you. I'm a citizen and you're kinda sorta supposed to listen to me. I may not have voted for you, but the least you could do is represent me. Anyone else reading this, tell me what you think. This blog isn't just a blog, its interactive so get involved and speak your mind! Literally of course.

The Races - Patrick McGowan Website Ideas

With the entry of Patrick McGowan to the race for governor I suppose I have a small moral obligation to give him the same treatment I've given the other candidates. So, here is his website ideas review:

Small Business:
Written as if by a third person the short segment here says he owned a small business and will have the Maine government be a motivator of business. Funny, I thought businesses should be motivated by a little thing called profit.

Renewable Energy:
In this segment he claims the success of group achievements making the permit process easier for clean energy project in Maine. He will enact the Great Maine Forest Initiative. I infer by the sentence following that the Great Maine Forest Initiative has something to do with biomass. However his website does not detail what it is.

Tax Relief:
Well, not exactly. His precise words are "hold the line" on taxes. So, really you'll still be taxed to death. Same old promise you hear all the time.

Education:
He promises to increase re-training programs and access to college and universities. Also promised is creating a way for our kids to go to college. Note the word "create". No actual proposals here.

Health Care:
He pretty much says the national health care bill is going to pass and will adapt to that. Also says he will overhaul Dirigo. Instead of getting rid of a failed program- while a federal bill to cover everyone anyway (it is sold as such), says he'll keep both a federal and Dirigo program. Kind of redundant isn't it?

Environment:
He claims he helped, and he did, to make the percent of Maine land under conservation protection go from 6 percent to 18 percent. He says he will continue this process.

Quick thought: If environmentalists keep conserving land at what point will they stop? 50%? 100%?

And that is really pretty much it. No specifics except for the 6 to 18 percent increase in conservation lands.

Here is his colorful green/red/blue/gray/white website:
