I say proper management of the budgets and city operations, independantly or cooperatively, should be the best way of saving the taxpayers money. Another committee isn't needed for this, just common sense management.
You can read about the proposal and how it failed in the Brewer city council here:

Update: The Bangor city council approved such a committee, it was pending approval by Brewer.

A Fear I Have
"Remember to keep smiling and paying your taxes, otherwise the police won't be a change you have to deal with."
I have often said this in a joking manner. Sadly, I fear that the direction our nation is going will make that statement a command and a threat, instead of a joke.

Cursed Humidity
It is only fit that the powers beyond my control would make the weekend, a time when people are naturally at home, unusable for my purpose through excessive heat which I have been repeatedly, by all sources of opinion ranging from family, friends, and complete strangers, told to avoid. So it is this day, a Sunday, in which the morning leaves many in cars or pews to their destinations for later today or in life that I have given in to the wisdom of eleven unanimous voices against my desire to continue to garner signatures in the heat of August, for there is no other time to do so.
It is with great dismay, and apologies, that I not be traveling the streets in an act of civic duty today.
