Clean Elections Discussion

To begin I only have questions to those who support clean election funding:

Is a system which allows different rules for different candidates a fair system?

How much money should be given to political campaigns by a government 400 million dollars in debt?

The rules are the same for all candidates. They get to choose to opt in or not to clean elections. 80% of Legislative candidates do this.

And imagine what the budget holes would be if every special interest and lobbyist were better able to maneuver their way into the budget process using campaign contributions.

The system's cost is a drop in the bucket. House candidates get less than $5000.

I continue to believe (and submitted legislation to the effect) that the standard for qualifying for must be higher. But the system must stay in place, not only for ideological reasons, but because it's the will of the voters.

But to suggest the entire clean elections system, enacted by the voters of this state, should somehow be withdrawn would enevitably cost more and make closing this budget even more difficult.
